Neurosomatic Therapy

The Power of Posture

It doesn’t take an expert to figure out that poor posture can be harmful in the long run.

Your posture can affect the way your body works, and, by the same token, the way your body works can affect your posture.

Poor and imbalanced posture can lead to inflammation, arthritis, joint degeneration, and chronic pain.

It can even lead to problems in other areas of your body – your lymphatic, circulatory, digestive, and endocrine systems to name a few.

The Living Web

Your entire body is laced with a web of connective tissue called fascia.

All of the bones, muscles, and organs in your body, all the way down to the cellular level, are wrapped in fascia!

Fascia divides your body into different compartments and acts like scaffolding to support all the structures within it – your nerves, blood vessels, bones, muscles, and organs.

Distortions or excess tension in the fascial web can impede the flow of blood, lymph, and nerve signals.

This can negatively affect the activity of organs like your kidneys, bladder, gut – and even your brain!

Treat the Source, Not Just the Symptoms

Neurosomatic Therapy (NST), a cutting-edge form of manual therapy, uses an advanced system of postural analysis to create a personalized treatment plan just for you.

Your plan is specifically designed to target the root causes of your pain, rather than simply treating your symptoms.

What Does Neurosomatic Mean?

If we break down the term “Neurosomatic,” “Neuro” refers to the brain and nervous system while “somatic” refers to the body.

Neurosomatic Therapy simply examines the ways in which the relationship between your mind and body manifest in your posture.

Our goal is to reprogram your nervous system through massage, bodywork, and corrective exercise.

This process will allow your body to use more efficient movement patterns that ultimately relieve stress on overburdened tissues and help restore optimal health.

Body Mechanic

Think of me as a mechanic for your body.

Just as you’d expect your car to break down if you failed to address a bent frame or if you allowed the wheels to fall out of alignment, you can expect the same thing from your body if you don’t maintain it properly.

Through NST, I simply recognize and harness the various physical laws that act upon your body to bring function back into harmony with design.

Your body is like the ultimate high-performance sports car, and my job is to help it function that way for you.

The Assessment Process

During your first visit, you’ll undergo a complete Neurosomatic assessment.

We’ll find and chart the relative positions of 84 different bony landmarks on your body to create a map of your 3-dimensional standing, sitting, and supine (lying down) postures.

We’ll then overlay this map with your symptoms and health history to determine the root causes and create a personalized treatment plan.

Treatment

Treatment consists primarily of the precise application of the best massage and bodywork techniques for your specific needs.

I treat everything from your muscles and fascia, to your organs, to the soft tissues that move the bones of your cranium (Yes, your skull is made up of a bunch of little bones, and they all move!).

We’ll apply these techniques in a way specifically designed to relax overly contracted tissues, reduce excess nervous system activity, and restore balance to the various systems of your body.

The Therapeutic Process

Although the treatment frequency varies depending on your particular symptoms and goals, your assessment results are a big help in determining how many treatments you’ll need.

Most patients only need between 4 and 6 weekly sessions before they start feeling significantly better.

Many patients notice a big change after the very first visit.

And some even walk away pain free!

Your Role as a Patient

You can achieve similar results, but –

Only if you take the initiativeif you’re an active participant – in your therapy session.

How?

Give me verbal feedback. Tell me where it hurts – what sensations you’re feeling.

Focus on relaxing. Breathe mindfully. Stay present.

Do your homework. Be diligent about the follow-up work I recommend.

Think of our time together this way: you’re an active participant, not just a passive recipient.

Showing up with this mindset will help you get the best results.

Our objectives?

Pinpointing your problem areas

Reducing pain and tension with targeted massage and bodywork

Engaging in appropriate homework and self-treatment

Using this process, we can set you up for success.

Regain control: of your pain, your body, and your life.
